Reducing the weight of plastic packaging

Reduce impact on the environment

Reducing the weight and size of our packaging means more products can be transported to our stores in each truck. And decreasing the number of deliveries reduces emissions and shrinks our environmental footprint.
By replacing the large plastic and textile bags that are used to protect our range of Comfibed duvets with roll polybags, we have reduced the packaging weight by more than 65%. These polybags are also now fully recyclable as they are made from a single material.
Over the past year, other products have also been repackaged using polybags. In 2025, ten more products, including pillows, will benefit from lighter packaging.
The polybags are simpler to manufacture as they are torn off from a continuous roll of light but durable, recyclable plastic. Repackaging the duvets in this way means 70 tonnes less weight to transport over a year.
Such initiatives are part of our broader efforts to reduce packaging. By 2025, we are committed to reducing the amount of packaging we use for our fixed assortment, by weight, by 25%.
