Challenge
Increase use of recycled materials and eliminate plastic
Environmental issue
Pollution from microplastics

Microplastics are commonly used in cosmetics, personal care products, fabrics and detergents. Small, lightweight microplastics measure no more than five millimetres in diameter – yet they can cause significant environmental damage. They can be found everywhere, including in oceans and the human food chain.
Wherever possible, we are eliminating added microplastics from our products, increasing the use of recycled plastic and offering more plastic-free products.
Our Spargo cleaning products are a good example of this (pictured). Spargo microfibre cloths are made with more than 50% recycled material. At the same time, we are also replacing microfibres with more sustainable alternatives, including viscose in our Spargo household wipes and hydraspun in Action toilet wipes. Our toilet wipes and hand & face wipes now both contain microplastic-free liquid.
