Scope and reporting boundaries

  • Unless stated otherwise, this report covers the company's businesses and consolidated entities.

  • Where applicable, the scope and boundaries for metrics and other key performance indicators (KPIs) are included in the text of this report.

  • Annual financial data relates to the company's financial year (2 January to 31 December 2023). Sustainability and other non-financial data are reported in line with either the company's financial or book year (depending on the data).

  • Figures in this report are presented generally in euros (€), Action's main reporting currency. Figures are rounded to the nearest million, and refer to the entire Action organisation (unless stated otherwise).

  • Due to rounding, certain figures in this report may not tally exactly. In addition, please be aware that certain percentages have been calculated using rounded numbers.

This report is based on Peer Holding I B.V.’s 2023 Annual Report. It provides a summary of the company’s strategy, performance and impact on stakeholders and society. Content is based on internal reporting. Where external sources are used, this is clearly indicated in the text. All data is based on Action’s own operations and collaboration with business partners. This report is intended for all Action stakeholders. When choosing content for the report, consideration was given to its materiality – i.e., whether it had an impact, or potential impact, on the company and/or its stakeholders.

Approach to determining materiality

* This combines a new topic (Diversity, equity and inclusion) and a previous topic (Recognition and personal growth).

We carry out a regular materiality assessment. Its purpose is to define our material topics, which provide the basis for our reporting and strategy. Our latest assessment, carried out in 2023, was the first to use the new double materiality process in line with the CSRD; our previous 2022 assessment used a single materiality approach, as defined under GRI standards. Our 2023 assessment identified eight material topics (see table below). Of these, seven were unchanged from our 2022 assessment, while one – Diversity, equity, inclusion and growth – was added.*

Our assessment involved four steps:

  • Creating an overview of Action’s business activities – which was used to identify our main stakeholder groups

  • Drafting a list of possible material topics and defining potential impacts, risks and opportunities for each

  • Assessing these impacts, risks and opportunities against both financial and impact materiality to provide a double perspective (inside-out and outside-in)

  • Using the results from our assessment to prioritise topics and decide on disclosures

This assessment was overseen by a special Steering Committee and results discussed by Action’s ASP Committee, which is chaired by our CEO and includes our CFO. Please refer to double materiality guidelines issued by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) for more information on double materiality assessments.

Definitions for material topic key performance indicators (KPIs)

*Developed under the auspices of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). For more information, see wbcsd.org

  • Scope 3 emissions (in CO2 equivalent)

Total Scope 3 emissions, as defined under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (i.e., indirect emissions occurring in Action’s wider value chain, both upstream and downstream).

Please note that, in this report, we are publishing a baseline calculation for 2021. Annual scope 3 emissions data will be included from our 2024 report onwards.

Percentage by weight of materials used in packaging, qualifying as recyclable (i.e., that can be reused or repurposed).

Please note: we plan to develop a second KPI relating to this material topic as part of our Diversity, equity & inclusion programme

Tax responsibility

We have decided not to set a KPI for Tax responsibility, given that amount of tax payments are the result from financial performance and the prevailing tax regime.
