Customers come to Action because we offer daily necessities and products that make everyday life easier and more enjoyable, all at the lowest prices. Over the past year, we have reduced the prices of more than 2,500 products, while improving product quality and sustainability.
We have considerable influence through the products we buy, which is why we try to source products that are sustainable and work with suppliers to help maintain human and labour rights for people working in our supply chain.
Through the Action Sustainability Programme, we are working to protect the environment and reduce our carbon footprint by, for example, switching to greener forms of energy and increasing the circularity of our products.
Our employees are the beating heart of Action. Over the past year, we continued to create jobs across our stores, offices and distribution centres. We pushed ahead with our People Plan, reinforced our approach to talent hiring within HR, and worked on leadership programmes, laying the groundwork for future growth.
We are part and parcel of the society we operate in. We contribute to local communities, are a responsible tax payer and support charities and good causes, specifically those that help children grow up in safe and healthy environments. In 2023, we renewed our partnership with SOS Children’s Village for another three years, and continued our support for both the Johan Cruyff Foundation and the Action Scholarship Fund.
Going into 2024, customers still face rising household bills and are becoming increasingly eco-conscious, as well as price-conscious. In response to customer demand, we are planning to open new stores across Europe. To support this growth, we will be working to further strengthen our internal systems and processes, stepping up digitalisation and executing on our Action Sustainability Programme.
